Consultation description

The EU Commission sought clarification from the UK Government about the conformity of domestic legislation with EU law (i.e. the Recast Directive). The Commission used the EU Pilot process to gather this information. A number of the queries related to transposition of the Directive in Northern Ireland.

In order to address some of the concerns raised by the EU Commission in relation to transposition of the Recast Directive here, a number of amendments need to be made to the Sex Discrimination (Northern Ireland) Order 1976. The proposed amendments are contained in the draft Sex Discrimination Order 1976 (Amendment No. 2) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2015 (see Annex A). This consultation document seeks views on the proposed amendments contained in the draft Regulations.
