Fearon and Ross congratulate Mooney on EY Entrepreneur of the Year success

Junior Ministers, Megan Fearon and Alastair Ross today congratulated Brendan Mooney, Chief Executive of the Belfast Software firm Kainos, for being named EY Entrepreneur of the Year for 2016.

Junior Minister, Megan Fearon said: “This Executive is determined to build a strong and vibrant economy and the talent of our entrepreneurs is vital to help us achieve this.

“It is only right and proper to take the time to celebrate and recognise the achievements of all those shortlisted for awards. I congratulate Brendan Mooney on being named EY Entrepreneur of the Year for 2016. This award is well earned and richly deserved. There was serious competition and Brendan now follows in the footsteps of other winners from the North including Brian Conlon, First Derivatives and Peter Fitzgerald, Randox Laboratories.” 

 He was also was awarded top honours in the Best International category.

Junior Minister, Alastair Ross said: “Brendan has shown the true spirit of entrepreneurship and I am delighted that this has been recognised. I wish him well for the EY Entrepreneur of the Year global awards and I’m sure he’ll be a great ambassador for Northern Ireland, demonstrating on a world stage, the best of what Northern Ireland has to offer.

 “Northern Ireland may be a small country but our entrepreneurs like Brendan continue to demonstrate we are big on ability, ambition and performance.”
