    About the Project

The St Enda’s project centred on the development of a new, fit for purpose, multi-use, facility to provide dedicated physical space to house and support the provision of a range demand-led community services/activities across the SIF Belfast North zone.

The new dedicated physical space will facilitate community development through enhanced community services including nursery provision, community childcare support, youth clubs, educational services, a sports facility, skills and training activities to help tackle unemployment, activities focused on social inclusion and provision of room for a local social enterprise. The facility also forms part of an Irish language hub which can be accessed by all sections of the local community in the area. These new services will help meet the needs of the growing demand for youth, community and play facilities and will help contribute to improvements in the health and wellbeing of everyone in the Belfast North locale.

    Progress to date

The St Enda’s Project has completed construction and is operational. This project has delivered a new community building which has become part of a thriving community hub where people can come together to socialise, irrespective of background or culture and where a range of enhanced health, social and youth activities will be facilitated that will meet the needs of everyone in the wider community in the SIF Belfast North zone.

    Impacts

Monitoring and evaluation of all Social Investment Fund projects is carried out using “Outcomes Based Accountability” (OBA). Where SIF has funded capital works, the project provides quarterly “post-capital” data for a period of 3 years which details the positive impacts enabled by the capital works undertaken. The final capital infographic below highlights some of the key impacts of the project to date. The St Enda’s project is in the early stages of post capital OBA returns and the OBA capital infographic is attached below.
