    About the Project

The project was part of an Increasing Community Services Refurb cluster which sought to increase community provision in areas of deprivation in the SIF Belfast North zone.

Refurbishment works were necessary to bring the building up to a more modern fit for purpose standard and to comply with health and safety requirements

Joanmount Methodist Church Hall provides a wide range of valuable services, such as a pre-school playgroup, a parent and toddlers group and a Saturday kids club. These enhanced upgrades will provide the church with the capacity to safeguard these services and support an increased range of improved services, including youth and family services and more cross community activities, to meet local needs.

    Progress to date

The Joanmount Project has completed construction and is operational. This project has delivered a vital community facility which will promote community development and cohesion and enable the provision of improved youth and family services in the local area and wider SIF Belfast North Zone. The increased quality and access to these community based services and activities will help to encourage active citizenship, provide young people with training in invaluable life skills and increase the opportunities available to give them the best start in life and help the local community to reach its potential.

    Impacts

Monitoring and evaluation of all Social Investment Fund projects is carried out using “Outcomes Based Accountability” (OBA). Where SIF has funded capital works, the project provides quarterly “post-capital” data for a period of 3 years which details the positive impacts enabled by the capital works undertaken. The final capital infographic below highlights some of the key impacts of the project to date. The Joanmount project is in the early stages of post capital OBA returns and OBA data collection is ongoing for the final post capital infographic.
