  • The Department Consults on Funding Challenges

    Topics:
    • Making Government Work

    Date published: 12 May 2023

The opening budget for 2023-24 has now been set by the Secretary of State in the Written Ministerial Statement of the 27 April 2023.

    Budget 2023-24 Equality Impact Assessment

This means that the Department, like the rest of NICS, faces a constrained budget position for 2023-24 and difficult decisions will be required. The Department is launching an EQIA for public consultation on the actions required to live within this settlement, and would be keen to have your views. In line with our statutory duties, the EQIA will inform decisions on budget allocations.

The Department will consult for a 12-week period. The Department will particularly encourage responses within the initial four weeks of the consultation period. Views received during this time will be used to inform the Department’s initial allocation of funds to its business areas and Arms’ Length Bodies, as well as any early mitigations that can be put in place.

You can find the consultation here
