Executive Office Permanent Secretary appointed

Jayne Brady, the Head of the Northern Ireland Civil Service, has announced the appointment of Moira Doherty as Permanent Secretary of the Executive Office.
Moira, who has been leading the Department on an interim basis since February, took up the permanent position this week.
She has also joined the NICS Board.
Her appointment follows an external recruitment competition held late last year.
Notes to editors:
- The salary scale for the position of Permanent Secretary is between £146,469 and £163,267.
- Permanent Secretaries are the principal advisers to Ministers for all departmental activities; they are responsible for managing their NICS department, its staff and resources and are members of the NICS Board.
- As Accounting Officer, Permanent Secretaries are responsible to the NI Assembly (through the Public Accounts Committee) for the sound management of public funds.
- Moira joined the Northern Ireland Civil Service in 1999 and has held a range of senior leadership roles across a number of Departments, spanning strategic, operational and community-focused areas. She is a Visiting Professor at Ulster University and a member of the Steering Group for the Masters in Public Administration. She is also a parent Governor on the Board of Governors at Lagan College.
