  • Givan and O’Neill express sadness at death of Gordon Dunne

    Date published: 21 June 2021

First Minister Paul Givan and deputy First Minister Michelle O'Neill have expressed their sadness at the death of former North Down MLA Gordon Dunne MBE.

    First Minister Paul Givan said:

“Gordon was a highly valued friend and colleague and I am deeply saddened by news of his death. I worked closely with Gordon on the Justice Committee and his contribution to the Assembly will be sorely missed.”

"As so many will testify, he was man of honour and integrity, who worked tirelessly in the service of others. He undoubtedly fought the good fight, he finished the race and kept the faith to the end.

'I send my deepest sympathies and my prayers to his family at this difficult time."

Deputy First Minister Michelle O’Neill said:

“I was really sad to learn about Gordon’s Dunne’s passing. Gordon was a well-respected member of the Assembly, a gentle and good-natured character who had time for everyone he met.

“Gordon will be greatly missed by many. I send my condolences to his family, friends and colleagues at this very sad time.”
