  • Public appointment competition for new Chair and Board Members for the Victims and Survivors Service launched

    The Executive Office has launched a public appointment competition for a Chair and new Board Members for the Victims and Survivors Service (VSS).

    VSS provides services and support to victims and survivors of the Troubles/Conflict, Historical Institutional Abuse and Mother and Baby Homes, based on individually assessed needs.

    Launching the competition, Patrick Gallagher, Director of Victims and Survivors, said:

    “The Victims and Survivors Service plays a pivotal role in supporting victims and survivors, and the VSS Board is crucial in ensuring that this valuable work continues to be delivered effectively. I would encourage anyone with the skills and experience to apply for these positions.’’

    1. The public appointment process is being carried out under the principles of the Commissioner for Public Appointments Northern Ireland (CPANI) Code of Practice.

    3. The posts for members will receive remuneration of £125 per day up to a maximum of £3,750 per annum. This is calculated on an average of 30 days per annum.
    4. The post of Chair will be up to a maximum of £8,200 per annum, based on a commitment to a minimum 41 days per annum.
    5. The appointment will be for a period of 4 years. Individuals will then be eligible for reappointment for one further term.
    6. Applications will be welcomed from all sections of the community. Women, younger people, people with disabilities and people from ethnic minority communities are currently under-represented in public appointments. Applications from members of these groups would be particularly welcome.
