  • Statement following the death of Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Kent

    First Minister Michelle O’Neill and deputy First Minister Emma Little-Pengelly have expressed their sympathy following the death of Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Kent.

    First Minister Michelle O’Neill said: 

    “I offer my condolences to the Duke of Kent and his family as they come to terms with the passing of the Duchess of Kent.

    “I wish to acknowledge the sorrow that many people will feel at her loss.”

    Deputy First Minister, Emma Little-Pengelly said: 

    “I want to express my deepest condolences to His Majesty The King, His Royal Highness the Duke of Kent, and the Royal Family following the sad passing of Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Kent.

    “As the oldest member of the Royal Family, The Duchess of Kent was widely respected for her grace, empathy, dignity and devotion to public service across the United Kingdom.

    “Like so many others here in Northern Ireland, I will be keeping the Duke of Kent, his children and grandchildren in my prayers in the days ahead.”
