    Date published: 9 January 2026

In May 2022, the Northern Ireland Assembly enacted the Period Products (Free Provision) Act (Northern Ireland), designed to ensure free access to period products for anyone who needs them.

To deliver this commitment, The Executive Office (TEO) partnered with Libraries NI, making products available in all public libraries—both static and mobile. These products can be collected by anyone, including on behalf of someone else. In May 2025, one year after the scheme’s introduction, TEO carried out a survey to assess the effectiveness and impact of the Period Products scheme. This report presents the findings from that survey.
