SIF provided funding of £280,000 for the upgrade and repairs to the roof and heating system to enable the premises to continue to be used as a hub for community activities and offerings in the Colin Area.

    Project Name:

    Zone:

    South Eastern

    Category:

    Capital

    Social Investment Fund Outcome:

    Increasing Community Services

    Status:

    Operational – Construction Complete

    Funding awarded:

    £280,000

    About the Project:

This project involved capital improvement works to Cloona House including the urgent upgrade and repair works to the roof and heating system with the aim of reducing running costs and maintaining existing jobs, community services and social enterprises at the centre. These works have enabled the premises to continue as a community hub and expand the delivery of a number of vital community activities including youth, early intervention, employment and health services to the Colin area.

These essential services cater to all elements of the Colin community and seek to address key issues around education, health & wellbeing, skills development and employability, in this area of deprivation. The building is also home to a number of social enterprises that provide services to a wider range of communities across the South Eastern Zone and is used for various conferences, training sessions and consultations as well as many best practice visits for groups across Northern Ireland and beyond.

    Progress to date:

This project has completed construction and is operational. This project delivered a much needed upgraded facility to the SIF South Eastern Zone and allowed the premises to continue to deliver a wide range of key community services that will provide physical, social and economic benefits and enhance the lives of everyone in the local community.100% of jobs and services were sustained as a direct result in the works, with some additional services in operation and additional volunteers being welcomed at the centre.

    Impacts:

Monitoring and evaluation of all Social Investment Fund projects is carried out using “Outcomes Based Accountability” (OBA). Where SIF has funded capital works, the project provides quarterly “post-capital” data for a period of 3 years which details the positive impacts enabled by the capital works undertaken. The Cloona House project has completed its 3 years of post-capital monitoring. Below are the final capital and post capital infographics which highlight the key impacts of the project.
