About the Project:

The Community Enhancement through Sport project aimed to improve leisure facilities within the SIF Southern Zone and comprised of 3 individual elements:

  • Annagh United FC, Portadown - a new bituminous surfaced carpark, including kerbing and drainage, has been completed along with new bituminous surfaced pedestrian paths, new perimeter fencing, amendments to spectator fencing along with other ancillary works and equipment around the site at Tandragee Road, Portadown.

  • St Patrick’s Cullyhanna GFC - a new natural grass pitch, has been built on existing farm field at Cullyhanna GFC, Tullynavall Road, outside Cullyhanna.  The project included drainage, fencing, floodlighting and associated works.
  • Clady Sean South GFC - new natural grass full size and training size pitches are being built on both the existing grass pitch and an existing farm field at Clady GFC, Clady Road, outside Mowhan. The project includes drainage, fencing, floodlighting and associated works.

The new amenities will allow provision of a wider range of events and facilities offered, provision of a modern and professional appearance to the football clubs, improved access and parking and provision of state of the art grounds for all ages to enjoy, contributing to community engagement in the surrounding rural areas.  These will ultimately enhance each of the club’s services and growth in years to come.

Progress to date:

The project has completed construction and is operational. This project will increase access to a wider range of leisure, social, educational and sporting opportunities contributing to improved health and wellbeing for those in the local area and the wider SIF Southern Zone.

A number of short films on Social Investment Fund projects and outcomes have been produced.  Below is the link to a short film, that highlights the construction/improvement works to facilities funded in the SIF Southern zone, including the Community Enhancement through Sport (CETS) project:

Impacts:

Monitoring and evaluation of all Social Investment Fund projects is carried out using “Outcomes Based Accountability” (OBA). Where SIF has funded capital works, the project provides quarterly “post-capital” data for a period of 3 years which details the positive impacts enabled by the capital works undertaken. The final capital infographic of Annagh United FC below highlights some of the key impacts of the project to date.  Data collection is ongoing for the final capital infographics relating to Clady and Cullyhanna.   The Community Enhancement Through Sport project is in the early stages of post capital OBA returns and OBA data collection is ongoing for the final post capital infographics.
