Balmoral Show highlight of agricultural year – O’Neill and Little-Pengelly

First Minister Michelle O’Neill and deputy First Minister Emma Little-Pengelly attended the Balmoral Show today.
Around 110,000 people are expected to visit during the four-days of the Show.
The Ministers were given a tour of the Healthy Horticulture Marquee, viewing the various trade stands as well as the equestrian classes. They also visited the Christian Aid stand to hear about their 1km cycle challenge to raise awareness of the charity’ work to support those in poverty.
First Minister, Michelle O’Neill said:
“It really is the highlight of the farming year, particularly for those from our rural communities, with four days packed full of amazing food, entertainment - not forgetting the award-winning livestock.
“Every year the Show provides an opportunity to showcase the fantastic products available here in our agri-food industry as well as focusing on environmental issues.”
Deputy First Minister Emma Little-Pengelly said:
“We know that many people in the agri-community are embracing sustainable farming so it’s great to see the new Sustainability Village up and running this year. It will host a number of companies who have already made the switch and are working in areas such as renewable energy, efficient energy solutions, environmental causes and recycling and waste reduction.
“We want to congratulate the Royal Ulster Agricultural Society (RUAS) for their hard work in delivering another successful event.”
